Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta

With just over four weeks to go to the first race in Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta there are 360 entries now in from across 24 classes. July's event stood at just 22 entries six months ago but it grew steadily over the Spring to put it on a par with the 2009 VDLR, the biggest regatta in Irish sailing that year. The positive response is an indication, says organiser Adam Winkelmann, that the 2011 fleet, should be a bumper one too when it sets sail on July 7th for the four day event. The line up has got an international flavour too; there are entries in from Germany, France, Denmark, Scotland, Wales, UK and of course Ireland with the bulk of entries drawn from the capital's own waters of Dublin Bay.

Make sure to book early and you can get the Dart from Bary to Dun Laoghaire on the Dart in only 12 minutes. http://www.royalhotel.ie/special_offers/?price_group=274877906944&sv=false
